Workshop Assignment 2

September 19, 2010

Man who works at grocery store

Pay checks; pay stubs; to you; I come for

It all;;; because you do; it all; grocery;

Shopping && handywork; all you do it;

Except for love;

No love; I receive from you; just cash

From my paychecks; that you alone; cash

At the grocery store; everything I need;

Except for your love;

We are; together; yet not; together?

Why not- is it I-? or the us? Or; there is no;

Us; we cannot; exist; since we are not; 1

Only 1 thing is; missing; that is-

.<< and everyday I

    I feel like the character comes to the realization of how much he misses his true love, and you display towards his end with the three lines of hesitation and then having single words on the four concluding lines The analogy that he is feeling closer to her everyday AND he feels like they are falling apart shows how his emotions get the best of him and he can’t help but miss her, but in the end they are falling apart because of the distance and the face that they will never be one. We see him confused in the poem, answering a question with another question, with the opposite notion; for example they are together and yet at the same time they are realistically apart.
